At first run, PKB will prompt you to load or create a DB. You can also just cancel the prompt, enter your data, and later call the Save DB as... function from the File menu, or even let PKB promt you again at program exit. To add a new document, just write a Reference or title and specify a Category (not mandatory). Then write or paste into the text area, include some Links if you want, and finally press the Add button. You can also import already existing text files. To search for documents you already added, input any argument in the Ref: field and press the Find button. A list of matching documents will appear in the text box. Clicking on any item in the list will bring up that document. The list can be sorted by any column, just by clicking on the column header. If no argument is specified, all documents in the category will be listed. If the Category field is blank, all documents in the DataBase will be searched. Once a document is displayed, you may delete it from the DB with the Delete button, or update it and save the changes with the Modify button. A sequence number is assigned to each document and is permanent, untill you Merge the DB, what will sequentially renumerate all Documents. IMPORTANT
NOTICE: Changes are only stored to memory when you press Add or Modify
button, and saved to disk when the application is normally closed. If
you hit Cancel from the File menu, or the system crashes,
all changes will be lost. You may save changes at any time by using the Save
DB as... function in the File menu. |
